Now You Know
Red Sea = Inflation
The Red Sea piracy situation is a big deal. I have been watching this for awhile, ever since it developed, and have been surprised that not many people were talking about the impact on supply chain.
Finally, a recent CNBC article estimates that import price inflation across 38 member trade countries will increase by 5% if the piracy persists.
This will certainly impact producers prices (in items that are manufactured) and consumer prices down the road. The ships are taking routes that are 30 - 50% longer than what they would take without.
This will be something to watch for countries that rely heavily on imports….
Thank you
