Now You Know
Central banks begin easing cycle

Since all eyes will be on the Feds decision on Wednesday, I thought I get you up to date with whats been going on around it.

Last week, the Bank of Canada lowered its interest rate from 5% to 4.75%, making it the first G7 (United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom (UK) central bank to ease its policy. The next day, the European Central Bank followed by cutting its key rate from 4% to 3.75%. This was seen as the beginning of a gradual cycle to cut rates FINALLY.

However, Both banks stressed that future decisions will depend on economic data, taking a cautious approach. Which I translate to don’t get your hopes up, we can do what we fucking like! Which I have come to expect from these guys.

This week, the U.S. Federal Reserve is expected to keep its rate steady at 5.5%, the highest since 2001. Since March, the Fed has indicated that rates will remain high for longer due to unexpected inflation and a steady economy.

On a Global scale though the outlook seems positive. Interest rates have likely hit a peak for this cycle and will gradually move lower as various central banks pivot to rate cuts this year. While there is no urgency, people think that the Fed won't be far behind in starting to normalize policy. Word on the street is September is the magic month.

And if you are wondering well what impact will the cut of rates have on me? Good question. The biggest for us all, even non US citizens is that rate cuts promote broad economic growth and corporate profits., which help investors make more money and boy I know you love that!
