The Secret Sauce
Apple beefing up AI

Fellas,

Maybe you heard that Apple acquired Darwin AI, a Canadian based startup that focuses on, hmm, - “visually inspecting components during the manufacturing process.

The company also specializes in “compact yet powerful AI that sits completely on board, so that data can be processed in real-time on a device,” - Alex Wong.

Quite (very) simply put the company specializes in manufacturing processes improvement and making AI models more compact/efficient. Maybe I will do a deep dive later.

After the acquisition, Darwin’s X account and website went offline and not a ton of info is out there about what they “do”, but I guess this is a part of Apple playing chess not checkers.

The Darwin team (<50 people?) has joined Apple’s AI team.

One of the big G’s that was the Co-Founder of DarwinAI has become the director of Machine Learning at Apple, and let me tell ya, this dude is worth watching.

^The average person next to interview after you

Okay, but how does this benefit Apple?? (good question)

Apple’s IOS 18 will be coming out in September. Rumor has it that this will be a hugeee IOS update - full of AI.

Rumors about Siri becoming cracked, iMessage improvements, custom design changes, shortcuts, and a lot more that I wont go into until more info comes to light. It seems like Apple isn’t in the front row (relative to other big tech companies) as far as AI advancements, but I have a feeling that won’t be the case at the end of this year.

Darwin’s visual inspection technology & efficiency/compaction improvements will certainly benefit Apple’s AI push this year and in more years to come.

Excited to watch.

Let’s let Tim Cook…

Thank you
