News
This week
Another big week of earnings, news, economic data, events, the whole 9 yards. Get the scoop on what is important to know for this week.🎯
Monday - McDonalds, Caterpillar, Chegg, and Palantir earnings. ⚡I specifically remember “almost” buying Chegg puts when ChatGPT came out, wish I did as they are getting decimated in the education space.
Tuesday - Chipotle, Spotify, Snapchat, Toyota, and Ford earnings. ⚡We saw Tesla lose some market share to the other car makers, will it show up this week?
Wednesday - Alibaba, PayPal, Disney, Uber, and CVS earnings and CBO’s 10-year economic forecast and spending in the USA. ⚡Disney earnings will be all about market share (streaming, sports betting, etc.)
Thursday - Expedia, Hershey, Aurora Cannabis, Honda, and Philip Morris earnings. ⚡Philip Morris has been seeing lots of politician trading as Zyn (owned by Philip Morris) is in talks of becoming more regulated.
Friday - Pepsi earnings and some boring econ stuff.
Now You Know
Spatial Computing x Governments
That one dude in the Vision Pros
Alright,
I was initially going to write about my thoughts on the where and how Spatial Computing (the term Apple uses instead of VR?) would impact you and I. However, I kind of realized it was going to impact us everywhere (I know that sounds melodramatic, but for real). Maybe you saw Casey Neistat review the Vision Pros or have been hearing rumblings about Meta/Apple technology.
If you still need a little “convincing” on how widely used spatial computing will become, you should go through this article by Microsoft. The article (about the Microsoft HoloLens) showed me how widely used and currently integrated spatial computing is across various sectors (watch the videos also).
So, I thought instead of telling you where this will impact (everywhere) or that you should buy big tech stock, I wanted to show you how integrated this technology currently is.
As is with most cutting edge technology - the governments get it first.
In 2021, Microsoft was awarded a contract that “could” have been worth almost $22 billion to deliver the HoloLens to the US Army. After testing, disagreements on contract pricing, and the headset “making soldiers sick” (weird) the Army has once again ordered more headsets from Microsoft. 🪖
Lockheed Martin and NASA use HoloLens headsets in the manufacturing process for the Orion spacecraft. “We take an eight-hour activity of marking locations, and they finish it in 45 minutes.” - Lockheed. 🛰
Last month, the US Space Force awarded Microsoft a contract for headsets to create an augmented reality space simulation. 🛰
Three days ago, Hadean was awarded a contract by the British Army to develop simulated land and terrain imaging technology. ⛰
Obviously, there are many sectors being impacted liked healthcare, education, engineering, and others but I think these stories “prove” that spatial computing is ready for the consumer.
Thank you
