This week 📰
A big week is around the corner. Get briefed on what will make the market dance 💃:
Tuesday - CrowdStrike, VividSeats, and Target earnings plus 16 states will vote for who they want to be the Republican presidential nominee (big day).
Wednesday - Campbells and Abercrombie earnings. ⚡I will be surprised if Abercrombie continues to rally (+373% 1yr) is crazyyy, that is 123% more than Nvidia this year (+250% 1 yr).
Thursday - Costco, Kroger, Docusign, and American eagle earnings. Papa Jerome testifies to senate.
Nothing crazy Monday or Friday. This week will show how shoppers are feeling (keep in mind record credit card debt, auto loans, and student loans).
Things they don’t tell you
The Dry Side of Mining
I should call her…
Fellas,
I have been wanting to write this one for a while. Today is your lucky day, imagine if you didn’t open your inbox. 🫣
If you live in California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, and even Utah you are likely aware of the big boy Colorado River. 🌊
When it comes to rivers, the Colorado is a tank. It supplies a lot of water to these Southwestern states. 🚰
Well, the Colorado river is in a drought (see here if curious). 🚱
This means the states (listed above^) that are full of precious metals (Copper, Silver, Gold, etc.) are also struggling with water shortages.
Well, if you didn’t know - Mining uses a lot of water. In solid rock mining, water is used in dust control, drilling, and processing ore.
Okay - with that in mind lets get past the foreplay.
The USA needs copper ➡ Arizona has copper (some of the most in North America) ➡ BHP and Rio Tinto (big dogs in mining) say “We got you” ➡ boom, Resolution Copper Mine ➡RCM can supply 25% of American copper demand over the next few decades (according to the company).
Oh by the way Arizona…
The Resolution Copper Mine will only use 250 billion gallons of water over 40 years.
Throw on top of that the 1980’s Arizona legislation that allows mines to “pump unlimited groundwater without paying the state a dime” (source).
So, Rio Tinto and BHP will be getting $404 million dollars worth of free water from Arizona for the Resolution Copper Mine (based on current water prices), while the state is in a drought.
*This could explain why Phoenix (largest city in Arizona) has raised the water usage fee by 6.5% (October, 2023), and will raise another 6.5% in March, and 13% in March of 2025.
This is the shit they don’t tell you…
Thank you
