Now You Know
The EV battle.
Alright,
This story was rather interesting in my opinion. It’s all sort of kicked off after sleepy Joe announced substantial new tariffs on a variety of Chinese imports, particularly targeting electric vehicles (EVs), solar panels, semiconductors, and batteries. The tariffs on Chinese EVs have been increased from 25% to 100%, with the aim of protecting U.S. industries and workers from what the administration describes as unfair trade practices by China, such as heavy subsidies and overproduction that lead to market dumping.
However, these tariffs part of a broader strategy to bolster American industry, particularly in green energy and high-tech sectors.
The move has been met with mixed reactions, receiving support from domestic manufacturers and labor unions, but criticism from economists and global manufacturers who fear increased costs and potential retaliatory measures from China.
The Statista chart highlights the significant growth in Chinese exports of electric vehicles. Over the past few years, China's EV exports have surged, making it a major player in the global EV market. This rapid increase in exports is part of China's broader strategy to dominate the electric vehicle industry, This growth has positioned China as a key competitor in the EV sector, challenging established automakers in Europe and the United States
This emerging market is obviously of huge importance as both China and the U.S. are going toe to toe, in order to try and gain the market majority in the EV or green energy sector. It might be an idea to have a look at some of those up and coming Chinese EV companies. Rather than being all in on Tesla and Elon (who may be occupied in a twitter beef).
Might be something to keep an eye out for.
Thank you
